Camping Fees in Victoria
Hi All,
Certainly worth a read, bit of thought and a response to the DEPI.
DEPI - National Parks Camping and Accommodation Fees
According, to Parks, "Parks Victoria will use the funds received from camping and accommodation charges to maintain facilities, services and their surrounding environment."
Interesting.

Well they can look forward to a lot of empty parks ..... The idea of goverment parks is they should be small fee/voluntary donation .... The idea is to bring tourists to the area, not make money.
From what I can see they will now want $60 a night for the "free" camp sites down at the grampians ... no power, most pit toilets etc...
this is a joke right ?? Evenyone will camp just outside the camping areas for free rather than pay that.
It's getting to the point where a family simply can't afford to go away. Eg: christmas break in school holidays .... 2 kids and one baby, we are looking at close to $100 a night for a square of dead grass/dust to set our tent up on. It's insanely expensive. Now even the unserviced "cheap" option doesn't appear to exist (not that my wife would do pit toilets etc).

I've only had to pay for camping a few times ever but I must have used a lot of facilities installed by Parks. Fine by me if they need it.
