You should come to Asia on our tour... a lot safer..
In 2006 I drove from Vancouver to Panama and back in a 110 County. Lots of people gave me dire warnings about how dangerous it would be and how I would surely be killed, if not in Mexico then in El Salvador (or some other place that had been featured in the news). The people who seemed most concerned were those who were actually from the places I was going to visit. Aside from a couple of relatively minor issues, nothing bad happened and people were almost always friendly. My Spanish is truly awful but I managed.
I've also backpacked around South America and, years ago, hitched across North Africa. Next year I plan to spend 3 weeks riding a bicycle in Cuba. Apparently I'll be getting killed doing that too.
I will admit there are dangers, but if you are sensible and keep your eyes open you'll usually be fine. Or you could just give in to fear, watch travel documentaries from the safety of your couch and die from one of the many diseases that afflict the sedentary middle class.
There are many out there in container land.
In 2010 we shipped to Vancouver, Canada with Scott and Bell. I would not use them again. The Defender poorly secured so pure a-rse that there was no damage.
