Greyhound & horse racing a "Sport" What a ****ing joke!!!!
    It's out & out gambling!
Why or how anyone could put their hard earned on an animal controlled by humans (unless they're in the know) is beyond me.
Have a look at your local TAB or equivalent & there's not too many top hat & tail swankers there.
More arse out of the pants losers!
I was going to add that I hope I don't upset anyone with my opinion but...Nah!

Nah, I hate dogs, they leave fur all over the house, sit on your head when they want breakfast, sit beside you when you're watching TV, try to give you a kiss when you're sad, make you laugh when they're being nutty.

Did I say I hate dogs? I meant to say I wouldn't be without one, or two, or three or four. With pugs you can't stop at one!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Absolutely.. We only have the 2 Pugs though (at the moment) and our beautiful Greyhound - all rescues as well. We have had 2 rescued Greyhounds from GAP (Greyhound Adoption Program) - they make awesome family pets, and are a misunderstood breed. They are gentle and loving (If you're not small, white and fluffy)...

Pugs are still the best though - couldn't imaging life without at least 2 of the little sneezing, snuffling, fur shedding, snoring little fur bags sharing our home.

There is a lot of nice posts about pet dogs in this thread but not many expressing their views if they are happy with sacrificing 17000 dogs to maintain the gambling pleasure for few.

Come on guys! give us your opinion, is money, greed and gambling justify this barbarian animal treatment or an implementation of some kind of control if not ban the dog racing is needed?

    Back to the OP topic

I think it is disgraceful, but probably not a lot can be done about it.Pretty hard to stop gambling and a whole industry overnight.Sure, things can probably be done better, maybe the regulaters need to step in.

Mate of mine has Greyhounds, and thats just what they do

Sure, rehoming would be good, but there are way to many dogs around that need rehoming, even if there were no greyhounds around as well.

When i was an apprentice,i remember working on the cold/freezer rooms at Vet .Sciences at the Qld Uni.The rooms were full of greyhounds,so some do go to a better cause than being wasted.

    Do you love dogs?

    Questions:

    1. Tomato sauce or mustard?

    2. Brown bread or white bread roll?

    3. Am I talking about long skinny things or not?

    4. Is murdering cows, pigs, fish and chickens ethically worse than dogs?

    5. Do you get all outraged at people whose culture allows eating meat?

    6. Where do you stop with moralising? Who gets to draw the line?

I say the only truly ethical human is the one who wears clothes hand spun from grass grown in his own back yard, eats only beans and yoghurt he made himself, lives in a sod humpy, and doesn't drive a car. And dies before he has a family. And acts as fertiliser for the next broad beans crop in the neighbours garden.
