    NSW Rules:

Keeping a minimum distance behind long vehicles

This rule applies to a driver of a long vehicle that is not driving in a built up area, a multi-lane road or overtaking.

A driver of a long vehicle, while driving behind another long vehicle, must keep at least 60m distance behind the long vehicle ahead.

A driver of a road train, while driving behind another long vehicle must keep at least 200m distance behind another long vehicle.

A long vehicle may also be a vehicle and trailer (or caravan) - depending on length.

But from what I've seen (which doesn't make me right) there are also a lot of truck drivers out there who clearly have no idea (or care) about the braking dynamics of a loaded truck either.
What ever your on . Its either too strong or not strong enough mate Seriously who would go out and drive a truck like that idiot dunnydore driver ,
In my years of driving trucks ive seen truck drivers do silly things but honestly its 9 times out of 10 car drivers that are more idiots than the professional truck driver.
Every time i drive my truck in the rain or on damp roads i allow more than enough room to stop why because idiot car drivers do jump in front and hit the brakes

When younger I thought that where practicable all applicants for driver's licences should have some appreciation of the vulnerability of bicycle and motorbike riders on the road by either first qualifying for a motorbike learner's permit or being a pillion passenger. This was before the advent of lightweight Japanese bikes.

Now I think maybe many of the impatient vehicle drivers are also motorbike riders - too used to nipping through the traffic and thinking they can do the same in a car or other four-wheeled vehicle.

Reckon this statement will start something

This moron driving a Hilux was lucky not to crash despite pulling an almost identical manoeuvre.. This was posted here a while ago with very similar responses.

I have no issue with the driving style of the defender. Overtaking a slower vehicle at or above the posted speed limit is ok by me. Even if it means sitting in the right lane for a little while longer to safely pass.

Okay, this is slightly off topic but, what are those bits of perspex (in the case of the original video, the blue bit) on the front of truck bonnets for?

I've long wondered but never remembered to ask anyone who might know.

To deflect insects from the windscreen and a place for a signature line or name.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Port Pirie man, 80, fined for risky overtaking attempt caught on camera | News.com.au

POLICE have identified and fined a man caught on camera last week narrowly avoiding a head-on collision during a dangerous overtaking attempt.
A truck driver's dashboard mounted camera captured a white Mitsubishi Magna sedan overtaking on the Augusta Highway, near Nectar Brook, on Tuesday, November 12.
Vision of the overtaking manoeuvre - in which the driver of an oncoming 4WD has to take evasive action to avoid a likely fatal collision - was posted on Facebook page Crap Adelaide Drivers.
Police investigated the vision and were able to track down the driver, an 80-year-old Port Pirie man, on Saturday night.
He was reported for overtaking when unsafe to do so and issued with a $333 fine and two demerit points.

The person in the cameldore is a complete idiot, but there's a big problem with driver's on the road NOT getting out of the right hand lane. Selfishness? maybe, but I'm of the firm belief that accident figures and driver frustration would be less if people got out of that lane unless they actually required to use it.
in Vic we have big signs keep left unless overtaking.
I often find drivers in the right lane doing 80 kph in the 100 zone, they seem all tied up in their me me me world and are oblivious to whats around the or coming from behind. I see if often on the Franskton Danednong road, then when the 80 kph zone comes up they drive faster.

I was at the lights of a 3 lane intersection, I was in the middle lane, the guy in the left lane was on the mobile talking and texting, the lights change to green and all traffic moved off leaving the dick in the left lane behind. The left lane finishes shortly after crossing the intersection.
What does the dick do, he plants his foot to the floor and tears up the left lane and cuts me off, I gave him a toot and then it was the fingers and the fists and the road rage. He slamms the anchors on infrom to me and I had to serve the disco around him again he wanted a punch up beckoning me the pull over. A middle eastern buck with and attitude problem.

Eastern freeway, gut in front wandering all over the road at 100kph, looked like he was drunk, when i get a chance to pass him he's casually leaning back in the seat and talking on the mobile, he is oblivious of what hes surroundings are. I gave him a toot and gestured mobile phone.
He went off his rocker, wanted me to pull over for a fight.
    A middle eastern buck.
I have learnt check out the drivers before in case they are middle eastern bucks, turn a blind eye and let them kill someone.
All times no pen to get the rego plates.
