I daresay it is unlikely that any one of us actually knows Clarke personally, so we all base our opinions on what we see on TV, the press and of course, the commentators remarks during Test matches. And I reckon, as followers of the game, that is our right to form opinions based on any information we are able to gain.

I reckon, (based on what I see and commentators remarks) is that Clarke is strategically a good captain but not a strong leader of men.

Let's imagine that Clarke continues to be suckered by Broad, we continue to lose the Test matches and Bailey gets a couple of good scores. I would not be surprised to see Clarke actually retire in those circumstances. The image I have of Clarke is that he not a strong man. Our best batsman by far, but, is he strong?

We need him to be. Let us hope I am wrong.

There is mention as to who else can be captain (I suppose other than Bailey). I recall Chappelli's comment from waaayyy back - "Australia picks it's best team and then chooses a captain out of that lot".

From way back also, it was always considered harder to be dropped from the Australian team than actually getting into it. I, for one, am sick and tired of hearing: "Give him a go, can't do any worse". I reckon it is immoral for any player to be "given a go" in the Australian team!!! A player needs to earn the right to play for Australia.

Leave the team "as is" until someone actually stands up and earns the right to oust an existing player. Scoring one century in a Shield game or one-dayer should not be enough to earn a player a Baggy Green.

As for the OP question as to whether Clarke is fighting for survival. You bet your last dollar he is! If we get flogged as per our latest attempts in England something has to be done - a la Mickey Arthur!

Should Inverarity go!!! How I wish!!!! Dottering Old Fools should know when to have a cup of tea, a Bex and afternoon nap.

Hah! Some would say I need a cup of tea........

Cricket is a funny game, in the space of a day , Clarke looks like a genius. Great team effort, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Clarke?...No, I don't think He's in any real danger...there are people more to blame than him for poor performances recently.
Current Series?...."Beefy" says the Poms will win 5 nil???...Absolute B.S. How can he possibly say that.
I say the Series will be close, real close....wait & see.
    Cheers, Pickles.
If I was asked to pick a winner at this stage, I'd go 60/40 for the Aussies.
I'm not quite sure I understand why one person is blamed for another person's poor performance. Who's the one holding the bat,, or who's bowling, fielding etc etc,,, how is a captain, or anyone else for that matter, in charge of a batman who's maybe having a bad day at the crease? They're not puppets. Maybe they should take away the money,, get some guys who love playing for playing,,, not for money. I'm sure they loved the game once, which would make you think, for the money, they'd be even better.
Any sport I have played, if I stuffed it, "I" was the one who got railed.
Maybe things have changed too much for me to keep up
