Pension Age may move to 70

Case to raise pension age to 70: report

So you work all your life and pay taxe's but they keep raising the bar on when you entitled to your pension.
Its hard enough holding a job in my industry now (telecoms) mostly due to the amount of 457 Visa's they have been dishing out. Who is going to give me a job in my late 60's!

    Bunnings I suppose

Of course in the future you would have accumulated enough resources not to need the pension.

Possibly, all I see is any super I earning going backwards all the time lately. Super will probably work out well for the high income earners though

Well you are clearly in rip off funds - my super fund made 50% over the past 12 months and that is with no deposits. The last couple of years have been some of the best ever for super though the couple of years before that were among the worst ever.

I think this proposal is shameful. Ofcourse if you want to work to 70 or further that is fine as well. Fine for non manual work and or lower levels of concentration and physical response, but that is not how it is and you will still be expected to to do the job of someone much younger.
Who is going to employee of all these people in decent paying jobs.
I think when you have worked for 45 years plus you should be allowed to retire if you wish and enjoy it.
Then people are going to carry on about super, well yes mine should have been great and I would have been self sufficient at 65 but due to the GFC I will actually have less than half of what was initially proposed and that is as long as I stay in a high paying job. For the person that touted a 50% increase, are you for real, most have only gone up around a max of 10%, some more some less.

Thanks to the gfc I lost about half of my super. Not happy! Might have to sell the house in 3 years to survive.
