    That Sinking Feeling when...

...you wave goodbye to your trusty steed.

    Farewell old friend!

What I have learnt from 12 years of Defender Td5 ownerships.

    • The Td5 is a mighty fine engine. Should last easily beyond 300K if looked after.
    • Rear wheel carriers are a must lest you go deaf
    • Don't buy a 90 if you have kids. There is room for kids or luggage - not both.
    • No matter what you say, there is nothing like owning a Defender. (Not even owning a 101!)
    • Td5 vibrate at the weirdest engine revs. People will argue till they are blue on how to address this. I just ignored it.
    • Land Rover have maintained the Lucas tradition into the 21st century. Fit relays before you burn out your headlight switch (I am told the Pumas are no better)
    • Wind the window down (There is nowhere else for your right arm but hanging out the window)

Well the kids are grown and prefer hotels and beaches to crapping in a hole and no washing for 3 days. The missus is happy to "let me do my thing" so I will keep the 101 for 4wding.

    So....

Its about time I bought something that is totally inappropriate.

Thinking BRZ, WRX, TT, 370Z, 500 Abarth, Clio RS, Peugeot GTI even the ST Fiesta looks like fun. Has to be fairly new as I will be leasing.

I hear Ford are talking Mustang.....Hmmmm

And where are those much sort after number plates going???

Not on a BRZ, WRX, TT, 370Z, 500 Abarth, Clio RS, Peugeot GTI even the ST Fiesta I hope

Best keep them for the 101, though it looks nothing like a 1948 series 1

    Hello old friend!

Maybe a Duck egg green WRX?

What about a Peugeot painted in Camino Gold?

I think I'll have to put them on the 101 - Baby Huey?

You know I have had those plates on for 7 years & not one person, even Land Rover dealers, mechanics whatever new about HUEy. Geez I am a rivet counter.

    Nah. You need a S1.

I find I'm so distraught after selling a vehicle I have to buy another two or three.

Yes I nice little '49 80" in pale green would look good with the HUE166 plates. Problem is they are expensive or rust buckets or both.
