    V6 defer

Mate of mine was down the local dealer the other day and went for a spin in a defender. It had the V6 in it and he said that it drove brilliantly.
Apparently there's only 5 in Oz as test mules, so we might get to see a defer with a V6 in it.

If the dealer comes back with the right figures,he will be in a black 130 soon.
Unfortunately it wont have the V6 in it. lol

    cheers

I read an article where aftermarket companies in England [ Nene, Twisted, I think] have supplied Defenders to order with the 3.2 , 5 cylinder transit engine, or the TDV6 engine . L. R. has, apparently, been given a bit of flack by the public there as to why L.R. can't do the same, especially for a special edition 2014 model. Watch this space , I guess. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    Question

I do not believe that there is a "Factory" current model/shape Defender with a V6 in it, that will be released to the Public. ....so I don't think, at this stage, it will happen...ever.....IMHO.
If such a thing happened, ya'd have to upgrade heaps of stuff, brakes, transmission, suspension etc etc, & what about ADRs?...It would cost a fortune.
But, yeah, the "new" Defender, post 2015?, anything is possible.
    Cheers, Pickles.

After travelling several times in a 2013 Ford Transit powered Defender 6 speed,I am very impressed in the current product, maybe the next generation Defender/Landrover will be as good.

But wether we will see it in Australia is anybodies guess,as the Australian ADR's are different to anything else worldwide, mainly to protect the Australian motor manufacturers.

Pete Bell at BAS did the first one back in 2008. It used the 2.7 TDV6 from the D3.

more info? Some pics would be great…

If LR are serious and LRA want it to happen, getting coverage here on AULRO would be a very good start for them. Id almost actually entertain the idea of a new vehicle

Brakes are lying around to fit/ cope with that speed, NAS spec D2 had the 4.6 v8 petrol . Ditto tranny 200kw v8 or a 147kWh td5/6. Emissions would be easy as BOTH engines are sold here by their ex aka ford.
They would only have 2 problems:
1, supplying enough to meet demand!

2, getting rid of the old 4 cyl ones.
Maybe a third of fitting an auto ,which would at least double sales, from either Ford for people who would rather steer than drive.
I'd be on the list to try and get one, 7 seat 6spd man, 110 blue or bronze, tint, arb bar, Mulgo sliders, winch, snorkel etc

I'm fairly sure that if Land Rover had got their arses into gear and produced a 110 with the V6 diesel, and the Extra Cab, and supplied it with a decent locally made tray we'd see a lot more Defers on the road and a lot less diesel sucking Land Cruiser V8's..
