Who's built a Hot Rod or Street Rod

We in Queensland, unlike in the UK can not put a V8 into a series Landrover :( unless it is a post 1979 (Stage 1) I would like to be able to put a 3.5 RRC motor and box into my 2a,it might get to 100kph :D but that's the rules in Qld,each and every state has different ideas, so much for National road rules and regulations, I know of Victorian motorists on holiday up here that have been booked for not having rego labels, now can-almost-do has decided that Qld will drop labels from Nov 2014,and my rego will need renewing in Sept 2014 so I will be one of the last with labels :)

I have seen a Chev Luv (isuzu ) chassis under an EH convertible which worked well. The crown has ford stud pattern so all you need is to sling a suitable width 9 " diff under it.

Not a rod but i have a 58 FC special sedan with a Buick V6 (not dunnydoor V6), celica 5spd , hadfield chassis kit, torana r&p, VN discs alround, VC salisbury diff.
My dad is into vintage dodges so my brother and i have always wanted to build a 1920's dodge ute with a 440/727 in it.

Not long after I threw in my two bob's worth I got to thinking about this. One of the first things that hit me was that LC/LJ Torana's and D1's share the same 100" wheelbase. Then these visions started of an LJ, 4wd, 3.5t towing capacity and a 200tdi. Pure Heaven. :thumbsup:

I've seen some pretty cool rat rods, but they're just not the sort of thing I'd like to build.

Yep, I've seen that one in the flesh. That was the sort of thing I was thinking about, pretty much a full chassis and drive train to keep the amount of modifications to a minimum, then swap a body onto it. Chopping the chassis down in length probably would't be too big a deal to achieve the correct wheel base.
I would prefer a Ford base, but they don't have full chassis like the Holdens.
I've always liked the idea of a 427 with 500 HP, but I'd most likely settle for a mild 351 for the ease ( and cost ) of sourcing an engine.

Interesting, something to consider. A bit more engineering involved with fitting a V8.

not strictly correct. I know of at least one V8 2A that was rego'ed in Qld.
