I'd be trying low range trying to detect whether its the torque converter, gearbox or transfer case but regardless its not going anywhere under its own power.

I have just read this through and am appalled by LRAs Customer Assistance dept. The must have changed since the 90s. When I bought my first new D1 they were great and assisted when required. Having said that I think it was more to do with the dealership at the time which was Gold City Land Rover and was tied up with Barbagallos. Unfortunately they went out of business some years ago but dealing with Shane and then later Raelene when we bought the Defender had absolutely no problems as these people had absolute integrity. All warranty issues were taken care of promptly and when repaired or servicing undertaken they always had a car available for us to use while in Kalgoorlie and even gave me a 130 for a weekend while repair work was done on our Fender. With the Disco on one occasion was having a recall warranty issue done, the apprentice noticed wear on the wiring loom and some overflow from the battery (aftermarket dual battery system fitted), pulled out all the wiring, checked for damage, rebound the damaged areas, cleaned all the acid marks etc at no charge. The car was also always washed and vacuumed as well.
I had similar issues with a VT Holden we bought with factory extended warranty. The dealer did not want to repair a power steering pump as it was not serviced by them. I took them to task on this and said OK I want my complete extended warranty cost refunded. The started quoting pro rata and I did state to them bull****, if you will not honor the warranty then you will refund it completely. I then phoned the warranty underwriter customer assist and they were fantastic and said it will be repaired no problem and yes I can have the vehicle serviced by whoever I want as long as they are an MTA member. Have never dealt with this dealership again and they lost 2 cars sales as a result just from us. Had an issue in SA with an alternator and the warranty customer service and Duttons Holden in Murray Bridge were outstanding getting us on the road again, especially the auto electrician who could not get a new alternator in time for us to continue to a holiday house in time, so over a Friday and Sat rebuilt the alternator from scratch.
LRA really need to change their customer relationships or they wont survive here too much longer.
Personally after the problems and lack of joy from LR Australia wide with warranty and other issues I really doubt we will buy another one as much as I want either a TDV6 RR or a new 130.
What astounds me is when they will not repair known and documented issues they have repaired either OS or at other dealers or follow through and repair electronics which seems to be some of the major issues.

Hi Craig and to be honest, this latest failure is the final straw.
I have had two Vogues and both have had two failures that could have easily resulted in accidents being caused by the way these failures made the RRs undrivable.
As far as I am concerned, Land Rover are incapable of making safe vehicles and these Vogues are nothing more than death traps waiting to happen.
Is it well insured? Sell it to your insurer. Got a closemouthed and cooperative rellie? Lock it up in their shed and report it stolen. After you are paid out the car can make a miraculous reappearance in the airport long term car park. This is a better trick than torching it in a remote area. Insurers are always suspicious of fires.

He reckoned the RRs could find their own way back to the stealers who generally treated them well. That was in Britain and Europe mind.
Now the Lexus needs a new battery pack (around 8K from memory) after 7 years of faultless use so they've bought a Freelander II not long ago and are very pleased with it and the after sales service.
Younger bro has a 3ltr Sport and he's happy with it except for the lack of acceleration compared to the Fairlanes he drove for many years.
So his next vehicle is the V8 Rangie to get more oomph in the Sydney traffic light gran prix.
What a shame LRA seem intent on giving the marque an even worse name than it has had for years, especially after closing so many country dealers.
I'll struggle on with the Deafener as it and the after sale service even though I bought it second hand, has been good.

I would imagine that the majority of owners in AULRO own older trucks. These would have been bought 2nd hand, in most cases, so the problems encountered by Drivesafe and others, would have been taken care of. The motto for this story would be.... don't by new.....but then someone has to, so that the bugs are all ironed out when I want another Rangie.;)
Also, you would think that LRA would monitor sites such as this to gauge peoples opinions on their products, service etc.
