    Hope all is OK.
I won't mention names to save any embarrassment.

P.S. If anyone has JerryD's mobile # maybe they should give him a call
I'm not far from his place & home for the rest of the day so a PM will get me.

Been a bad day for cars in my household

First my work van has **** itself, then the dormobile broke down for the second time This was after being fixed in Noosa by the racq man

Thanks to Walter for the loan of a subaru and thanks to blue mini for stopping to assist

Possibly need a new distributor or coil or something or drop in the 300tdi sooner than later

Jerry, just want to clarify that we weren't concerned about you; only the Dormobile.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

You'll be pleased to know Ian that my neighbor has fixed the beast and we're back on the road This is why I'm a brain surgeon and he's a mechanic

Good to hear, Jerry, but one question.....what kind of brain surgeon needs a work van?

    Now that's a relief

Still, if the 'home service' goes wrong, he can always call a Jim's skip bin to remove the evidence.

Being a Series it could be one of several things, the 5thDec was quite hot in Brisbane 32-35, and if the series coil has got too hot then it will go to sleep,my RRC with the first of the pointless distributors and with a coil amplifier has done that on me,too a while to work out what was the problem.

And condensors will do similar if they over heat.

Also Jerry, check your points at the cam-to-shaft and see if the plastic cam has melted around the spring arm, as Lucas brand points with that plastic cam shoe will do that when hot, that is why I changed to Bosch/Bremi brand points, as they have a fibre cam shoe.it also depends on what type of Dist you have, mine WAS a late type but I went back to a 25D type with adjustable vacc advance, and the earlier style points and solved the problem,If you have your coil mounted on the side of the engine block (like Aust army)then try it in the civilian location on horizontal on the inner firewall, there should be ready maid holes for it.

    cheers

I think the Jerry Jigger is Holden powered, about to be Tdi-ized.

And clean up and remove all evidence and, and, and. Don't worry about Bob the Builder (can he fix it), Jim's has everything covered.
