My grandmother could start her families rover with a penny.
As said, it's not difficult to hotwire any early vehicle, at least with a land rover they'll be scratching their heads for so long trying to work out what to do because you've left the transfer case in neutral that you'll have time to wander out with a cuppa and a biccy with your german shepherd by your side to politely enquire as to if they might need a hand.

While we're on the topic you can break into a RRC with a paddle pop stick.

Saw a workmate start a xd or xf falcon with its own dipstick once. Also back in the mid eighties someone on the jobsite locked the keys in their xf ute.Imanaged to open it with a piece of fibreglass strapping in about 5 minutes.Had never done it before and wondered how long a professional car thief would take

When I enquired on an English LR forum as to how so many Td5 Defenders get stolen in UK when they have an Immobiliser and security system which is supposed to make this impossible I got a response with a easy 5 step process how to steal one, and no rocket science required.

Years ago we had a fleet of XD,E & F panel vans.Didn't worry to much which key you had for which van as the keys for one van would often open and start another.

Fun and games getting into another techs van,or moving it in the carpark into another spot....

If it gets stolen, just follow the trail of oil to where it's broken down and been left....

If the stolen vehicle is spotted by the police, it won't end in a high speed chase.

ive got a 75 mini clubman, I had a mate walk up to it in a carpark, open the bonnet, and start the car all in under 10 seconds, no tools, nothing special, just a little bit of knowledge

I started parking it in gear that day....

No matter what security system you have,if someone has the right skills and tools, its gone. All a security system does is make it easier to steal someone elses car instead of yours
