try to sand the overspray off with 1200 grit
I've recently bought a couple of toolboxes that are powdercoated but have overspray over the upper surfaces from the previous owner.*I've tried thinners in a hidden spot and it softened the coating, so thats out, and god alone knows how old the overspray is so I doubt a clar bar session will work.....Can anyone suggest a solution?

Long shot... Accitone or Braklean.. Again, try both in a hidden test spot. Dependant on the overspray, a razor blade will sometimes lift it leaving the coat underneath un damaged, after a little softening first. Good luck.

acrylic laquer should wipe off with thinners before you soften the powder coat... If that didn't work, it's 2K urethane ..................... which means "oh crap", I'd suggest a razor blade only your talking a textured surface, so it won't work.

Try the clay bar anyway. I have used it on a couple of my cars and a good mate has used it to remove overspray off an aircraft from both the windows and airframe. It might just take a while longer for older caked on gunk. Good luck with it!

I know this is extreme but I've found that brake fluid doesn't affect powder coating.. it will make short work of the paint.
...but YMMV![]()

Third vote for the Clay Bar. I removed some quite heavy overspray from the paint work on my Discovery using a clay bar.
I haven't used clay bar but when I get overspray on Monty I just use a bit of car polish and it comes straight off.
Have you guys oiled the clay bar?
