Certainly do - just got some in my email!

Seriously though, I was probably in my forties before I knew what Spam was (I had heard the name, or read it, but never seen it). I suspect that it was not marketed in Australia until at least the 1970s. I grew up on "bully beef" (tinned corned beef) of course, but also Camp Pie, which, come to think of it, I have not seen for many years. Had a lot in common with Spam, but came in a round tin. Bully beef was a mainstay of Army field rations from WW1 probably to the Korean war.

Bully beef has an even longer history in Australia. In 1864 pastoralist H B Hughes set up a cannery at Booyoolee Station at Gladstone SA and his tinned beef was used on the construction of the Overland Telegraph and later the Boer War, and the cannery closed in the early 1900's. The remnant portion of the station is still owned by direct descendants of the original land holder, one of whom is a good family friend.

Ham is pork in the same way that bacon is pork. But "ham" generally mean a cured, or cured and smoked cut of pork.

So it's exactly the same as pork, only different.
