    Angry Fireworks

I'm a bit over it all really.

We have had kids running around letting off fireworks during the past couple of weeks, very annoying to say the least. Of course they seem to do this at the most inappropriate times,, like two in the morning . You never get to see it,,, just hear it.
Most dogs seem to hate this, and go off tap like there's no tomorrow. So then of course, the neighbours not only have to put up with the fireworks, they then have to put up with a heap of dogs barking. I lose even more sleep, as I try to calm our dog down,, not much I can do about any of the others though.
Its been a hectic few weeks, sleep wise

To top it all off, tonight, somewhere not too far from us, someone must have organised/sanctioned a major fireworks show. They've been going off now for almost a half an hour. Dogs going ballistic yet again
I cant believe that this has not been advertised (that I know of anyway). Everybody loves to watch them when they're done right. Could have even given me a chance to enlighten the dog as to what its all about.
So once again, we don't get to see it, but the dogs still got to be calmed down,,,, At least its early.

Your lucky if it's only children , up our way & apparently in Newcastle , fireworks going off for no reason is supposed to mean that another drug shipment has arrived in town! Scumbags

aren't fireworks banned from public purchase. China town sells them under the counter and I think you can buy them in Canberra. B ut as fafre as i recall the are banned due to horrific injuries occurring.

I won't be complaining about them going off every Saturday all year and every night at present, lest they declare jihad on the Christians in the street.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

When I was a bit younger, we used to celibrate Guye Fawks night. Cracker and sky rockets, it was teriffic fun. When it got banned it was because of horrific burns kids received. One boy had a packet of penny bungers in his shorts pocket the lit so how or by someone else. Sky rockets hitting people or landing on house roof etc could cause fires.

Lighten up a bit, too many self centred people about, I miss being able to get fireworks. The only time it really becomes an issue is when used dangerously or letter box bombs or maybe early hours of morning.. If your dog is jumpy just ensure they cannot get out of your yard which is your legal obligation having a do anyway.

They are also legal in Darwin for one day of the year. The ones that can be purchased there are similar to what the pro's use at big events.

They make the old penny bungers and rockets that were around in my childhood look tame.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

used to love Guy Falks, in Zambia (Northern Rhodesia) it was banned because it was banned everywhere else, lots of fun, have a Brai and fireworks in your own backyard mostly a few sky-rockets and something for the ladies to go Ahhh over, but mostly it was for the kids with jumping jacks and bangers galore, Oh well so much for progress, miss the old days though.

In the Netherlands, fireworks are legal also for only one night each year, New Year's Eve. In the runup to NYE one year, they ran a fireworks safety ad where they showed a news year's eve fireworks countdown, from ten to zero, using images of kids' hands with the appropriate number of fingers left over after fireworks accidents.

    Seemed pretty effective to me.
