So far so good. Small enough to carry a spare unlike the other options

I had all sorts of grief with an aftermarket fuel pump for my TD5 Disco. First one leaked significantly from one of the hose connectors on the top, as did the second one the supplier (reluctantly) sent, and I ended up making a frankenstein pump using the original top, and the bottom half from one of the aftermarket pumps.
Fuel gauge still doesn't read properly, and when the tank is full, the gauge reads 7/8ths full - I suspect it isn't sitting in quite properly and I intend to pull it out and refit it again at some stage.
Having said all that, it's been working away happily for the past 18 months.
The one that disco_ute has is this
Fuel Pump Land Rover Discovery II 2 5 TD TD5 WFX101080 WFX000240 WFX000280 | eBay (call this pump one)
Now I have looked at other pumps like this
Land Rover Fuel Pump Discovery 2 TD5 WFX000280 VDO Brand | eBay (call this pump two)
The two pumps look nothing like each other.
I would assume that when I remove my pump that it would look like pump two.
Am I right that if I purchase pump one, that I would disassemble my pump and it would fit into it?
Ahhh, when I replaced mine I wondered if you could get just the pump itself rather than the whole assembly.
To disco goose, I bought mine through Karcraft in Sydney. I wanted an original so there were no problems and and a VDO (OEM supplier) was sent out which is the same as but a lot cheaper than a LR branded unit.
So Slunnie, are you saying that the pump only will go into the complete assembly, as I was asking?
I replaced mine with an after market one from British Offroad about 100,000km's ago. It was less than half the OEm price and has not given any problems.
ps. rather than remove your bins and all the carpet etc, get a good knife and cut a flap above the pump....you can feel with your fingers where it is. up to you of course.
be careful refitting the pump that you don't bend the float arm.....this is why some people have inaccurate fuel guages after a pump change.
