I believe tomorrow is D day.![]()
Just heard today that kombi production is to cease in Brasil ending the longest production run of a vehicle in history. It's being killed off by the same design rule changes that's killing off the defender.Having had two kombies, the last one for nearly twenty years,it is sad to see the end of them.Iwas a dedicated vw fan till i caught the green oval disease

As a piece of practical design nothing touches it, but it's demise is probably 25 years overdue ...
Yeah, probably long overdue, but a sad day. I'm quite fond of them. If I didn't have Landies I'd have one.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
Sorry, mine should be more obvious,

-should read is it ZERO K day.

Mine had big tyres, modded engine, would do 150kmh,eventually,and used to tow my rl28 trailer yacht at just under 2t.Drove it to the cherry venture wreck on teewah beach near dbble island point once.Went well in the sand.Still love kombies![]()
if i didn't have an interest in landies, it would be kombis and beetles
saw a split hiding in a backyard behind an old boat today in unrestored condition, looks unused for a looong time. will go back and leave a note but suspect many others have done so by now

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
I had a love affair with them tooI completely rebuilt a split screen camper in the late 1970's and eventually sold it for 500 british pounds
Also owned a later Type 2 camper but it didn't have the same appeal as the split screen model. Of course my dormobile has a slight advantage in the rough stuff
I've also got an original copy of this book which was presented to "Volkswagen Dealers" I didn't know it was worth any money
Remember those great Volkswagen ads?: Amazon.co.uk: Alfredo Marcantonio, John O'Driscoll, David Abbott: Books
My first "car" was not exactly a Kombi - it was the one ton pickup with opening windscreens. Excellent offroad, except the engine did not like dust. Replaced it with a Series 1.
With a one ton load and all of 36bhp, performance was nothing to get excited about.
