I think the amount of Jeeps on the road is relative to the amount of advertising you see. How many "I bought a Jeep" have you seen on the TV?

I've just read the article, and it seems the things that make the Jeep good are European. Motor from Fiat, gearbox from zf, and chassis /platform from the ml. They admit the air suspension only works well on road. There's no mention of how the jeep went up their hill climb. . Only a photo that shows no wheel articulation and a lot of wheel spin. ....
It's a well packaged car by all accounts that handles well, is a good size, but is very well priced - and that's what most buyers want.
I did hear of a local bloke who had to wait 3 months for some bottom end bearings for the diesel though.

It helps when the new GC is very good looking and an excellent drive and priced very well. I would have upgraded mine if it wasn't for the annoying position of the foot operated parking brake. The KK Cherokee (not the Grand) is an ugly car and you rarely see any on the road, the advertising isn't moving many of those dogs.
Fiat bought a Jeep.

Don't read these mags anymore, don't really care but I suppose it's not like the 90's where every year bar one or two the Landcruiser and Patrol used to win all the time even if the Rangie or Disco did do better in nearly all areas!!
Still I'll never buy one of these new 4WD mainly because I don't have that sort of money and quite content with my old dunga Rangie.

Got to agree Bob, if our D3 matches what our D2 did then I will be very happy.
BUT Land rover still need to come up with a add campaign to combat the constant belief that they are the most unreliable car on or off the road, and until they do they will continue to be at the bottom end of market sales no matter how many 4wdoty banners they win.
Cheers Ean
Land Rover Australia happily sell every Land Rover that comes in to the country. You can't go to a dealership and walk out the back and pick a vehicle that hasn't been predelivered. If you want something at all different you have to wait 4-5 months. I wish I had a business like that. That's why you can't get discounts. So, for those holding back on a Defender, don't hold back too long.
You obviously haven't seen the dealer in Darwin, had 6 sitting in the yard when I drove past, D4, evoque, and couple of defenders, and they have been sitting there for ages,
Having a business that sells 100 cars when others are selling 1000 isn't my idea of a successful business.
Just my 2c of course

But that would be dishonest, False advertising is against the law in this country.
LandRover ARE the most unreliable car in UK, and I dare say in Australia too.
Top 10 Most & Least Reliable Cars - UK Car Reliability Survey
Why the hell do you think AULRO is one of the most popular forums in the world, Duh because Landrover is so bloody unreliable and people come here to find answers on how to solve their issues.Quote:
Which used cars are the least reliable?
The survey, carried out by What car? and Warranty Direct, included 36 manufacturers in its survey. Bottom place went to Land Rover. Buy a second hand one of these and you will be in off the road more than on it – a 71% failure rate was the worst by a long way and repairs cost an average of £420. The Land Rover was way below the Alfa Romeo, which has a 55% failure rate and a cheaper average repair bill at £364.
Also trailing were Porsche (39% failure rate, with the highest average repairs £623), Volvo (39% failure rate) BMW (41% failure rate) and Mercedes (45% failure rate).
Point taken, but I thought Aulro was so popular because we are all great people with the same passion who are happy to share our knowledge. The fact we help people fix problems is a bonus.
As a matter of interest do those surveys only include current model cars or are they going back say 10 yrs. I would be keen to see if the d3/d4 rate in those high numbers.
