Seaman Dan, legend. We used to go ashore at Thursday Island, , up to the pub, Doors shut at 10, then the entertainment began. The Mills sisters, & seaman Dan, & anyone else who could get up & belt out a tune. Sometimes we saw the sun come up. They were the days. Bob

I have to keep my cool a bit, The Maori warrior was fearsome and very accomplished fighters with far better weapons. Not even the might of His Majesties Army could defeat us.The Maori also invented trench warfare. The English thought the bayonet was the most effective hand to hand weapon until they met our warriors.

Don't get carried away, mate, those TI men would have served short thrift to any Maori trying to take over their land. It is unfortunate, the Maori could not defeat the Europeans in that war. Some of that could be put down to the fact the Maori were not united. Some of the southern mob were on the side of the British. A bit of history,
Bob
