I like this song, the guy seems like a good singer especially considering it's live. Great flower catch at 1:16.

    Ralph Stanley O Death

    Hello All,

I have probably posted this very song and singer here or elsewhere. One veteran who still gets things across!

Love it or hate it, it didn't so much move me as made me sit down. Make sure you have a decent speaker set up! A lot of you will hate this but the alternative was **** like Sherbert etc.

    G'day Bob,

Thank you for posting that version of Oh Death up. The first time I heard it was while I was tracking down another song. to confirm if a slide guitar was used in the soundtrack of O Brother Where Art Thou. This performance was given as part of the Grammy Awards in 2002. There are three songs in the clip. The second of which is Ralph Stanley whom I had never heard of before this point of time. I listened to Mr Stanley an number of times. Accessed 5th of July 2014 from [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-C_HVoiJpY"]O Brother Where Art Thou Grammy Performance (2002) - YouTube[/ame].

In the third song, O Brother Where Art Thou and I found out that my ears did not deceive me; the song features Jerry Douglas playing a Dobro guitar. with a slide [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dtPc3wNxOg"]World Renowned Dobro Player Jerry Douglas Performs - YouTube[/ame]

Lionel , that was great. I've never heard a Dobro guitar AFAIK, this has been a most informative thread, for me.

When I was growing up, out west, people used to get together, no tv, just radio, [ if you could get reception. ] Whenever people gathered , there was singing. We entertained ourselves. And, knew the words. Large necks, beef on the fire, and Patsy Cline. No drugs, no youth problem, no bull****. Bob

If you judge what music moves you, by the music that takes you back to your childhood, this one that does it for me. I can't explain the connection, because I was only a kid. Bob
