Dont know about the cars but the Trucks are able to raise and lower tyre pressures on the move, One on the Ivecos had a puncture today but took the gamble to keep going and rely on the compressor to keep air up the the tyre.

they are running Michelin XZL ,
last year the winning Iveco team used 170 tyres !!!

I don't know about this year, work has got in the way but I suspect it would be as last year.

Yep I'm sure buggies can run type inflation systems, I think Robbie Gordon could in his hummer as it was 2wd.

Have you noticed what tyres they're running? In the past BFG ATs seem to have been favoured.

just like normal tires, not very well, which is why they had on-the-go tire pressure adjustment ability.

now, they have to stop and inflate the tires to appropriate pressure. They run a compressor on board that fills a tank or two (scuba tanks I have heard / read) so that when the time comes, it is much quicker.

If I was building a car I would have a quick release connect at each wheel to make it a lot quicker.

Caught up now. Those Minis are pretty amazing, but the bikers are the real warriors, I reckon.

I have some close-up photo's of the Mini's from a couple of years ago when I saw them at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. There's not much "Mini" about them!!!
