I think the residents are getting a bit territorial to be honest. Its a reality of those types of areas which they dont like. Id say there is more to the bloke in the corner story too. I bet if the locals looked hard enough they could predict using a calendar when these types of paranormal occurances happen.

G-strings in the shops, thats crazy talk. Elephant smugglers... only when I'm leaning over the meat counter.
    Cheers

Normally it would take 5 minutes to drive into town,on boxing day it took us 1/2 hr to get to the shops. All the beaches were packed, cant find parking...Bloody terrorists...
Reminds me of when I used to live on the Gold Coast in the early eighties..thats another story tho..

I used to find that a lot of the backpackers did this in Cairns. I bet they wouldn't do it in their home town. Another dislike of mine is when they sit in a cafe or restaurant with no shirt on. I might sound like a bit of a prude but there needs to be some standards.

Not prudish at all, I totally agree. Shirtless is fine on the beach, in the park or in the pool, but when I'm sitting down to eat, I don't want your sweaty armpits in my face thank you.

As to the OP, I also agree. Bikinis or budgie smugglers are not suitable wear for a supermarket. I've seen it a few times, and I've been tempted every time to grab something from the freezer section and tuck it down the back.

But I don't have a great deal of sympathy for those complaining about an influx of tourists. Wherever you get a crowd of people you will witness the best and the worst of human nature. The only way around that is to opt out.

Same applies particularly to Jetstar and Virgin flights. I wonder why some of them even bother to dress (feet) thongs, string vests, poor body hygiene seem to be the uniform of choice for most of them. I refused to fly south for Christmas and drove instead ...

Being born and bred in rosebud, budgie smugglers was our main dress code, was a tad embarrassing in winter though

In the North West of QLD we call them "Tourons"! Tourist/Moron.
Nothing to do with them disrupting our lifestyle or anything like that & we appreciate the money they spend.
But leaving rubbish everywhere, riding Quads on the dunes, driving on closed roads, gripping because there is no bank/coffee shop/Myers or whatever, camping on private properties & just plain arrogance.
The above would only be a few % as most a great & considerate but the few does tend to tar all with the same brush.

A bikini is one thing, but a bit of rope in between bum cheeks is something else, at least days she shaves front and back.
