    Buying a new 130

Has anyone on here recently ordered a new Defender? If you choose a colour unavailable in the country at the time, what is your build wait time?

If you have a trade in, how is its value assessed at time of changeover?

Did you have to confirm your order with a healthy deposit?

The reason I'm asking here is car salesmen give me rising bile and I don't want to confront one until necessary.

I'm hoping someone has recently done the dirty business...I've just recently been through the ordeals twice as my wife and my son separately purchased VW Golfs.

We ordered a new 2014 MY 90 in a 'unavailable locally' colour on Nov 22nd.

It is scheduled for Build this month, and we should apparently get it by March 30th...

NO PX so cant help there

    Deposit was $1k

It was hard enough trying to buy it from the dealer! I hold out no hope of being able to track its progress

I will count myself lucky if they call us when it arrives!

    Thumbs up

Hadn't taken much notice of a "130" until we picked up our 90, at which time there was a new one waiting to be delivered. VERY impressive, & they are BIG.
Do you think it will be a special order when you order yours, I don't think that they sell many of these.
Are you looking at any factory options?...If it has to be ordered (from the UK) you may have to wait up to 5 months for delivery, as we did,....but it'll be worth the wait.
We left a $5K deposit upon order.
Yes, you can track the build. The dealer can supply you with copies of their ordering, & update, documentation, shipping dates etc, you can even track the ship, if you want to. This info will give you, details of your vehicle, options etc, ordering date, proposed build & completion date, proposed arrival date at dealer's etc.
I reckon that if your vehicle had to be built, & there was a substantial delay, they would be looking to re value your trade in before you take delivery.
    Cheers, Pickles.

What colour would that be, & how did you obtain it?

    Hey Pickles,

Sorry my turn of phrase wasn't clear. None of the colours we wanted were available locally on a 13my runout car so the dealer ended up doing us a 14my car in the colour of our choice with the dual finish wheels and MTR's at the price we were willing to pay.

We ordered Baltic Blue, but that was not available either it turned out so it is now Loire Blue which is the replacement for Baltic Blue which finished in September 13. Not that the dealers knew or Brochures show that! It was only when they put the order in they found out and called me!

14my brochures still aren't available on the LR site either..

We had a similar issue with our Keswick 90. We required an Indus Silver roof which was "not available" with keswick. The Dealer tried his best, but JLR wouldn't budge, so I ended up writing to the CEO of JLR myself, upon which they agreed to it. The vehicle attracted a bit of attention when it finally got to ULR who thought the roof actually looked pretty good.
    Cheers, Pickles.
