Not a lot of flex in the ol' CAT rippers! From this we can glean that 1, The straight was not long enough for his reaction times, 2: the grader is a very hard object to see as it is so small, 3: there needs to be more flashing lights on it, 200 might be enough!4: Dust restricting ability to see ahead is no reason to slow down5: and ARB bars do not stop stuff
Reminds me of a mate at 1 of the coal mines years ago, working a night shift in a loader, felt a bump, thought there was rocks on the track so backed up to remove it, thought thats a big rock, looked and he had reversed over the SAFETY supervisors bonnet! the moron had drove right up behind the loader not thinking it may reverse!

SubscriberWhen dad was working as a contractor for the then SEC using boom lifts for line clearing. Dad would tell of vehicles that had run into the back of the boom lift truck. Now there was the correct signs put in place and no dust. When there was a corner involved or high traffic volumes there was traffic controllers, some times my brother who had to on occasion forcibly stop cars. Dad had said he would be in the bucket way up high and feel the bucket sway a bit, look down and see a vehicle had hit the truck. Almost as invisable as a grader and just as imovable.

Did you have roadworks signage up? If so he shouldn't have been doing fifty anyway ...

Mid-morning, so just on dust.
The ARB bar stood up (or in this case, laid back) petty well, better than the ute. The bar and tray seem to be the only salvageable parts.
Just to rub salt into the wound Andy, get a couple of quotes and send them to him.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Maintence grading on a low traffic volume road,we only use a Road Plant Ahead sign.He lives and works on a large farm on the road,it was in a hell of a mess before I graded it,he knew the grader was working,either that or the faries graded the road during the niteThat is a weird one but it never ceases to amaze me how daft people can be on the roads
