    I would also suggest showing the item to prospective buyers in a neutral location, if possible. Showing it at home can, in my experience, result in a return visit, after hours.

    But then couldn't they just pinch it when they meet you? I tell you, modern life is doing my head in.

    It's a common one to get an email, then they'll want to pay you via PayPal, and they'll send you a falsified invoice from PayPal ( that really looks legit too !!!) and some sellers will post the item off (collection via courier etc.) thinking they've been payed.

    I.e. Look at your bank statement before you let the item go.
