    Pie shops charging for sauce.

Am I the only one who gets cranky paying 30c for a ****y little sachet of sauce? Especially for my pie that I have just been charged close to $5 for.

Is it un-Australian or just plain wrong?

I agree but has been going on in many shops for ever - pushing 60 now and can remember when I was in primary school and having to pay 1/2 penny for sauce to get my pie.

I think it is a good idea.

I don't have sauce on my pie, so if there was no extra charge for the sauce, I would be subsidising those who are not satisfied with the taste of the pie as it comes out of the oven.

I for one dislike dead horse on my pies and am happy to not susidise the lovers of the salty red stuff! There's nothing more annoying than fronting up at a takeaway and having to specify NO SAUCE NO SALT PLEASE every bloody time and then having to hand back the burger/pie/chips because its been bled on. Make the addicts pay!

So are you advocating that those who don't use sauce should be subject to a "great big tax" in the form of increased pie prices to subsidise your consumption of a tomato based condiment?

Went to the Mudgee pie shop recently and got a couple of pies for my lady and myself, paid and when I asked for sauce they threw in a couple of sachets and didn't charge. I was stunned. What should I do? Remind them of the cost of a sachet? Throw money at them? Turn and run for the door? I could feel their eyes boring into me as I stood rooted to the spot. Then another customer made an order, their stare was averted so I slowly sidled my way nonchalantly to the door with pent up terror expectant to the call "Ya haven't paid for ya sauce". I made it out unnoticed, my heart pounding, my eyes bulging pool balls; I have never felt so alive.

Speaking of sauce, I get sick of asking for no sauce on my burgers and then have to supervise the preparation of such to ensure I get none.

Don't get me started on BBQ sauce on pizza.

Really? You think you'd be SUBSIDISING sauce lovers? What rot !

The real question is why are so many pies so ordinary these days that sauce is necessary.....
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
