    Bitch escaping whine

    Just venting out loud here...

Our Border Collie bitch is on heat again, this time it's stopping our nightly sleep. At 4:30 this morning I could hear her screaming (I don't know how our Neighbour didn't as she was literally under his bedroom window). She has jumped the fence to flaunt herself with the staffy next door. By the time I got there he'd got her in the ridgy-didge mating manouvre - I couldn't separate them.

As a result I'm in the process of building taller side gates and double-picketing the sides - she has actually knocked fence pailings out of the fence.

It's hard to understand the female psyche! Have done everything (except electric fence and the soon-to-be 6ft pickets) to try and stop her escaping, but it always ends up with her whining at night. I regularly take the dogs (we also have a pug and male border collie) out for a run, to the beach, to my old's property - it's not energy that she's trying to burn. And it annoys me that its only at stupid hours like 2-4am that she escapes...

    Very painful...

    Cheers
    Keithy

Could you get her to come and teach my wife a thing or two. Try stuffed toys. My mum who grew up on a property with lots of dogs used to give our doberman stuffed toys when she wanted to get in the family way. We also had a separate laundry in that house, so during the night the dog and the stuffed toys went into the laundry.

Get the bitch desexed. Its the only responsible thing to do unless you're a bona fide breeder. Sounds like you're going to get a litter of pups no-one will want.

mate I have a cross Border collie and Corgie,,
and yes he looks exactly like what you'd think a black and white corgi would look like. (maybe a touch taller and finer)
We love him to bits, not everyone wants inbred dogs.

Take her to the Vet, you can get a needle to stop the pregnancy occurring, but only if you do it straight away, Regards Frank.

I too have x-bred dogs...mongrels in old speak. Both saved from the pound from among many dozens of others destined for a different fate. So I say again, desexing your dog is the responsible thing to do. Unless of course you can properly deal with a bitch on heat on a regular basis......or you like to have a whinge.
