Thread: camper trailers

If you intend doing a fair bit of off road travel, I'd recommend that you put trailer brakes on the trailer also. Supposdly the electric ones are the best, but we have cable ones on ours and they are great. Yery handy if you got to pull up in a hurry, especially on dirt roads.

Double shackled springs as opposed to "slide" springs is also important.

Our camper trailer is a Cameron Canvas one, made in SA. I have met a few people who have made their own trailers and used the Cameron Canvas tent top. I am very happy with mine (and so have the other people I've met)

Thanks for the info tdi 130 as I will be getting started shortly ( just have to finish the house extension first ) I will be using a tent as the sleeping area.
I have found one that has heavy duty canvas and I have designed the top so the tent can be folded away like normal campers.

Just have to do the house and replace the springs/shocks on the disco and then I can start ordering the parts for the trailer
