    LR Bike??

THE NEW 'DEFENDER' BIKE FROM LAND ROVER

LAND ROVER ENTERS TWO-WHEEL MARKET WITH THE LAUNCH OF A BIKE RANGE

Sunday Times Motor Show Live, Birmingham, 25 May 2004 - A comprehensive 25-model bike range from Land Rover is to hit the marketplace in June 2004, complimenting the outstanding range of automotive 4x4s already produced by the company.
Bicycle industry specialist, Ultimate Cycles, based in Oldham, Lancashire, is to produce a complete range of adult bikes under the names Defender, Freelander and Discovery, designed to emulate the attributes of each nameplate.

The 'Discovery' range is the all-rounder, which will retail from £160 to £200 with both gents and ladies models available. These bicycles represent a mixture of on-road and off-road capabilities, and boast versatile aluminium frames with comfortable features.

'Defender' branded bikes are the most rugged and off-road orientated in the range. These outright performance bikes will include three full suspension models, three jump/trails models and five further maximum off-road mountain bikes retailing from £200 to £400.

The 'Freelander' lends itself more to the urban lifestyle and the range consists of seven models for tarmac and mild off-road terrain, fully equipped with accessories such as luggage racks, mudguards and a sports pack, and retail from £180 to £270.

The Defender, Discovery and Freelander ranges will be further complimented by a higher specification G4 Challenge range, including a team issue model as used by the competitors in this gruelling multi-continental test of endurance. This top-of-the-range, hot-blooded and bespoke off-roader, based on the Defender model, is priced from £400.

The new Land Rover Bicycle range will be available to purchase in selected outlets from June 2004 and can be previewed on the Land Rover stand at The Sunday Times Motor Show Live.

Good to see the insecurity transferred from Defender to Range Rover.

Maybe there isn't a niche in the North American Market for this

    Speaking of landrover boots :

The missus bought 'em for me when I was going over to Croatia. They're oil impregnated (just like real LR's!), and this model of boot is called the "Defender".

    Acutally very comfortable too!
