IIRC, DHL have a minimum rate which is fairly hefty.

Yep, had the same thing years ago, buying 2 light globes for my Mazda... Shrt story, differing ticket price and shipping combinations, yet all worked out to the same figure of $99.95.
Don't tell me that there was no collusion of any kind...
Edit;- Eventually found the one exception, paid $60 all up, using a US Postal Service Flat-Rate-Box. =- Just keep looking.....
i understand that freight costs can be high, but it would be nice to be offered a few different options, "would you like air freight at $100 for 5 days or Slow boat $10 for 6 weeks", people dont always need things super fast and are happy to wait.
I've experienced this of late too. I shipped a bulbar last year, was only $150 or something.... got a little box of stuff the other day.... $150! wtf!
I think also the exchange rate is killing us.... we're only at 51 or 52 atm.
Edit: didn't see the 2nd page of comments.... Paddocks spares offers you multiple options for shipping.
Over the last year we have seen a 17% plus increase in prices across both goods and transport, and with the exchange rates its not going to get any better.
Some UK companies have very good air rates, others not.
Recently I had 67kg 6 packaged of varying sizes delivered by FEDEX, four days, door to door, $650.
Last year this was half this price.
Prices will I am sure be going in up on goods to cover these costs.
oops scratch that... lol
Akin to buying a 60" flat screen and 9.1 surround sound blueray player for $1500ish and the HDMI wire to connect them costs $100.
