Here it is, (or what I believe to be Second Beach).. The little yellow bit at the bottom is it and access is from Port Victoria.![]()
We are thinking of a beach holiday over on the west side of Yorke Peninsula and have found some great photos of Second Beach near Port Victoria. It is near Gym beach apparently.
Strangely, we can't find any directions of how to get there, or what facilities are there, or what the road in is like etc.
Anyone here been there and can assist?
Thanks
David

Yep - we found Second Beach road, but we can't find any info on where you turn off to get to the beach, and what sort of track it is.
I think we'll have a fallback plan, like Wauraltee Beach, and if we can't find Second Beach we'll try another one close by.
Thanks
Our cousin owns the takeaway/PO at Port Victoria not far from the end of the Jetty. They do stock a few essentials and do scuba refills but are a take away, The local grocer closed down about a year ago and I don't think has re-opened. That leaves them and the hotel as the main food outlets in town, but Maitland isn't that far away. There is a motel and hotel accommodation at Port Victoria and a Caravan Park at the right side of the jetty, with rocky beach access
I am not all that familiar with the area, though we did spent the best part of a week there last year.
As for getting to second beach I imagine you hang a left in Port Victoria, just before the pub. head out past the boat ramp turn off, past the golf course and follow your nose along the coast. I think the tar road ends at the end of the houses but an not certain
What info do you want, I can phone them over the weekend.

We are at edithburgh for the week, will try to go for an explore, will try the takeaway if we get there.![]()
David, if you pull up Google Maps with the Satelite image, you'll see just past Port Victoria where the houses stop, theres a road on the right about 400m (roughly-ish) whilst your heading South-ish that turns towards the beach.
This track could be the one to Second Beach maybe. However, but if you should keep going along that road, and it seems to go for quite a while, there are various tracks that lead off that and down to the beach.
The area looks quite good for some camping too
It may not be allowed of course, but from the air, it looks quite good. On Google, you can see cars on the beach further down.
When I'm down that way for a look-see one day, I'll be trying to stay down there
Good luck with your little adventure![]()
Spudboy,
Second Beach is a great little spot. Very easy access from Pt Vic, as previously mentioned hook a left at the kiosk and follow the road. After you hit the dirt Rifle Butts Beach is the first turn off, go past this for another 1 or 2 kms and you'll see the Second Beach turn off. Cant miss it. If you've gone too far you'll hit a gate... The dirt road is well maintained and the beach is easily accessible - To drive on the beach itself is a mixed bag; there were Tarago's on it last week whereas other times I've left The Sherpa in the carpark and walked!.. All depends on the weather.
There are no designated camp sites but there are plenty of well used tracks through the dunes and more than enough places to roll out the swag or tent.
Wauraltee Beach is the continuation of Second Beach, just broken up by a few rocky points. You can drive between both along the beach. Wauraltee will be quieter, not that you can call Second Beach busy by any stretch, and there is a bit of a camp site (no facilities) in the dunes. All close enough to look at both before settling in.
Hope this helps. Enjoy.
Thanks everyone for that information. Looks like it's a go-er than!
We need to get this:
down to the beach, so tight tracks and very soft sand will count us out.
Sounds like it won't be a problem though.
Cheers
David
