I suggest that you may have a longer riding career if you do expect any car stopped for any reason to have a door opened, even apparently parked cars.
Or even cars stopped in traffic jams in any lane where a passenger can decide that it is quicker for them to walk.

I have no beef with commuter treadlies. Getting to & from for a reason is commendable.
What I can't come to terms with is the Lycra Billboard mob who are going nowhere in particular for a good reason.
I live in a rural area with mainly 80-100 speed limits on the main roads in the area.
When you get these groups of riders, I suppose they like to think they're a "Peleton", on these rural roads, with the 1 metre law , any vehicle behind these blokes will have to stay there for up to 10 klms or more or break the law by crossing a double line.
I'd hate to be a truck or bus driver, poor bastards!
I'm sure a lot of people from around Brissie would have encountered these blokes on the Samford-Dayboro, Mt Mee & Mt Glorious roads. Downright dangerous to all involved. I've even come across them behind a bloke (coach?) on a motor scooter all doing about 15-20 kmh in an 100 zone.
Perhaps these people should be limited to roads that suit their vehicle speeds i.e. no public roads with a speed limit above 70 kph.

New rule for Queensland, you are allowed to cross the white line to overtake bicycles. If safe to do so.

I used to ride a pushbike and a motorbike. On the motorbike in the Sydney Harbor Bridge a woman stopped her car on the top of my right foot. That was how close she was also one a courier moved one of the side mirrors In the pushbike people in cars throw cigarettes buts, beer cans etc on me, so I know how people behave in both cases.Quote:

That's what I tell the cook when we see over weight older blokes struggling along on bikes.
