    Is Foxtel any good ?

Starting To get fed up with Freeview and continual loop of repeats on all ch,s and there now seems to be more adds than shows , I know Foxtel is not the end all but at least I might have something different to watch when Freeview goes into free-fall with 10% of good shows and the rest rubbish .

Foxtel's no better, repeat after repeat. Each package has one decent channel, which seems to run on an eight hour loop. Foxtel has just been dumped here and wasn't that a mission. After three requests, that halved the price each time, it's finally gone. I must admit that the weather dependent (lack of) reception played a large part in the reason to disconnect. We now have Fetch.

I can't see that foxtel is much good unless you have a specialised/sporting interest.

If you buy an "apple tv" ($100) and connect it to your broadband it will allow you to purchase/rent movies, tv series, watch vimeo, youtub, etc etc.

You're probably aware that can watch most missed shows over the last couple of weeks on various "catch-up" facilities on the major channels at least via your computer.

You'll be stoked when you first get it, then you start being frustrated by continual repeats. For pay tv it sure has a lot of ads and self promotion. I noticed the ads used to be the same block of 5 or so ads repeated through the show, so not even variety in advertising.
I've had Foxtel all up 7 years or so. Twice I've cancelled, they offered fantastic deal to stay, so that kept me for a few extra months each time.

Can't really say I miss it or am tempted to get it back.

I had it as I was living away from home due to work , whilst wife looked after kids. First month great then it rained and no channels at all. Soon got sick of pixels. not worth the money upgrade your internet and stream to your tv.

Yeah, isn't that frustrating. During the Sochi olympics with all that would have been happening we would often get reruns of previous events on two channels. So much must have happened without us seeing any of it. I'm all for them showing our Australian involvement, but how about something different on the other channel then.

Having said that, I suppose foxtel probably had twenty channels covering every aspect of the games.

Same here, except I didn't have reception problems. $80/month to $15/month now. Fetch (Optus in my case) is crap as well, at least it is a lot cheaper crap and you can download the SBS and ABC shows.
They offered me big price reductions, the big problem was they were for only six months. The customer service rep got a little upset when I said unless it was $15 a month it was still too pricey.

    We've had Foxtel/Austar for years.
If you have younger kids it's great.
If you like sport it's good.
If you want to be entertained it gets annoying after the first 12 months.
That said they do have some very good doco's.
