one of my clients helped kick one off up this way..
worked his butt off getting it up and running
then they kicked him out cause he tried to get them to do things with it to help the local community :p
It was found not to be discriminatory as it was set up for Men's health. It was to combate loneliness and depression that men often find themselves it after retirement. It gives them purpose and gives back to the community. I think all ages would be welcome though, you can learn a lot from the old blokes if your prepared to listen.
Cheers,
Dave.
If women can have the Country Women's Association, then men can have Men's Sheds, I reckon! A great thing. I plan to join one when I retire and have time to do all the things I don't get around to now.
Hi
I have often wondered about the Gosford one I drive past, might drop in and have a look !
I think my age would qualify :p
Steve
Age is not an issue.
I went to the daytime shed with a bunch of retirees and I also looked after the evening session with a bunch of young blokes who were still working.
I am sure age is not an issue I was just being a bit flippant will check out the Gosford shed for sure
The old man carked it last year and left a shed full of tools .As the brother and I have been contracting for the last 25 years we have more tools than we will ever use so went and seen the local mens shed to see if they wanted to pick thru the shed just ring before they came. That was 4 weeks ago this thursday
Seems I have as much trouble trying to give stuff away as I do buying in Aus:(

Odd. We were on the main street and the workshop roller door was always open so we'd get people dropping in asking for help with stuff. We often took the small jobs on - if they could be brought to the workshop (either by the person or ourselves). We didn't ask for money but if they wished, they could make a donation to the church next door.
We were also next door to a coffee shop and we'd often get men stopping by when they came for a coffee. That's how I found out about the place - Elisabeth had seen it when she went for coffee - so she sent me there.
We had a number of overseas tourists who stopped by and found out about Men's Sheds and wished they had something like that at home.
Elisabeth was very disappointed when it closed! :D
