1 its not all that bad, Aeroflot is now banned from flying into Europe.

2 looks like you may be arriving in-time for WW111, and will probably get stuck in pommy-land. but you will fit in as you seem to be able to winge like a pom.

3 pommy-land has some good movies you could watch, like day of the triffids, survivor, how i live now. or an international flavor, Red Dawn both of them.

4 i just had a thought. Russia has invaded Europe 2 times. once they got as far as Berlin. once as far as Paris. maybe the third time they could get to London. so to help you out. Previet ( pervert ) means hello, Dra stach ha ( does your ass fit ya) means hello to anyone with a gun.
and Spice sea Bar means Thank you for not blowing my head of with your AK47

Oh do not try to walk across Trafalgar Square if there has been a bit of rain. it makes all the pidgin poo slippery. that's why the fire dep comes out every second day to hose it down.

NB 2, just think when you get back to Aus, you could tell us all about your nuclear winter survival skills.

I tried a Pommie beer today at the pub across from where I'm staying. It wasn't warm but it was flat and definitely not cold. It was basically undrinkable so the barmaid put some ice in it. That sort of improved it.

Actually, it wasn't a very nice beer at all. Maybe next time I'll try a bitter.

In any event, I had to buy a cold Stella to wash the taste out of my mouth.

Don't tell me to try a Guinness draught. I did that back in January and I couldn't even finish it - it was foul.

    Please Ron
Most of us are very envious of your trip, some of us really wish we had a wife to do anything with together.
Stop spoiling it for us by whinging every bloody step of the way.

    Don't read the thread, Fred.

I'm a grumpy old man but it wasn't all bad. I love the old buildings and the bridges - and the fact that they built such wide bridges so long ago.

By heck, there are a lot of people walking along the Thames between Blackfriars and Tower Bridge and around the London Tower. I took the wrong camera with me. I should have taken my DSLR with the ultra wide lens instead of a pocketable camera.

Walking along Blackfriars Rd, the first bloke I asked for information was a bloody Kiwi who lived in London. Then near The Globe, I stepped in front of a bloke and his wife and then apologised. He replied "No worries". Bloody Aussies!

I use a BlackRapid shoulder strap rather than the supplied neckstrap. Much better.

I'll try the DSLR today but limit myself to the 10-20mm and the 18-45mm. I brought a small Crumpler camera bag which will carry one lens and the memory cards, battery, etc. The backpack, tripod, monopod, other lenses and stuff can stay in the room.

Unfortunately, yesterday there was a cruise ship tied up next to HMS Belfast so that area of Queens Walk was thick with American (and other) tourists. I should have gone back to Tower Bridge to catch it with the bascules up and the ship passing through (assuming it left last night).

I'm not, generally, after the usual tourist pics - everyone has those and many are on the 'net.
