Your photo of the Mona Lisa is almost exactly the same as the one I took in 2002.
I thought it was more informative to have a photo of the crowd wanting to see the painting than just a photo of the painting itself.

Is going to see the Mona Lisa with the crowds staring at it, be on top of my priorities of a trip to Europe? I think not.
Going the opposite way and finding the essence of Europe, without anyone being around would be my challenge.
.
The Mona Lisa is surprisingly small and disappointing.
Ron there is a way to get rid of them annoying crowds.Wave your backpack around and shout Ive got a bomb;);););););););););)

oh well a few weeks of baching may see a few new sets of wheels in the back yard
One bitch about the boat is that the only English TV channels (and there are a lot) are news or sport - neither of which I watch.
The Germans, Italians, French, and even the Chinese have non-news programmes even though every passenger is Australian, Canadian, NZer, British, or American.
It was the same in the 4 star Pullman Montparnasse hotel in Paris.
I shall be approaching the Cruise Director about this tonight.
Well, the cruise is over. In some ways I'm glad. The food was good, the boat was very good. However, breakfasts start to pall after one has been eating the same offerings in hotels and on the boat for 3 weeks. We were starting to skip breakfasts. We skipped lunch, too, because, with three cooked meals a day, we were eating too much. I am sure I've put on weight.
Now it's into the first day of a bus tour through Switzerland and already I'm regretting it. I'll never do another bus tour.
The tour leader never shuts up even when she says she will so that we can have a nap. English is not her mother tongue. It's good but not brilliant. Dunno where she's from (she's not Swiss) but she has an annoying habit of adding "a" to the end of words which end in a consonant (a bit like an Italian). (Actually, all the tour leaders we've had during the Rhine cruise section were also verbose and increasingly annoying but at least we only had them of a few hours. This one we have for 8 days!)
And she's loud! I've asked he to turn down the sound level but it hasn't helped nor has my wearing earplugs. I can't hear Elisabeth beside me but I can still hear the tour leader. I tried listening to music through earbuds but cannot drown her out. The other old farts on the bus think the sound level is OK. Gaaahhhh!
I'm getting thoroughly and utterly ****ed off (and I don't usually swear). Elisabeth is trying to soothe me but it's not working. I'm ready to scream on the bus.
I didn't go on an excursion this afternoon here in St. Moritz as I had to get away from the leader.
Pardon me Ron.
Did Elizabeth get to see that Doctor bloke in London and was she satisfied with the result ?
