That is one of the reasons I sympathise with the moderators in their attempts to be even handed in keeping us from kicking sand in each others eyes in the sand pit.
Sometimes the things we do or don't find acceptable are quite illogical. Other times they are a bit predictable based on our background.
I remember an example I heard about fifty years ago to illustrate how illogical and inconsistent we can be. It was certainly true then and may still be the case.
The example pointed out that working class people think nothing of sharing a common drinking cup at the water tank or of all drinking directly from the spout of the canvas water bag, yet they would hesitate to share a toothbrush. Upper class people were the exact opposite. They might share a toothbrush with their partner, but didn't like to drink from the same mug as someone else.
When I heard that comment, I was working in a timber yard and it was certainly the attitude of my workmates.
It isn't always easy for us to immediately see why someone else finds something unacceptable, because our attitudes to some things are not as logical as we might like to think they are.
