Remember also that Schumacher had a car built for him,had bridgestone make tyres for his car,had Shell make fuel just for the Ferrari engine as well as oils, had Jean Todt,John Barnard, and Ross Brawn behind him and his team mate to hold up the field so he could get away,Vettel has had similar treatment at Red Bull and Mark Webber was paid to stay in F1 so he couldn't have been that bad. There is a growing feeling that Vettel is a good driver but how much was it down to him compared to the Red Bull car being alot better than the rest. I can recall Alfa having a V8 but others might have tried that configuration.

Appears I am in a minority in actually liking the quieter F1 cars, you can attend a GP without sticking your fingers in your ears for a start.
Hear the tyres complaining, hear the radio conversations clearly, all positive.

As to being slower lap times, that isn't down to the engines, they are faster in a straight line, slower in the bends.

My preference is good racing, which so far this year has been the case through the field. Mercedes has done a better job this year and they will probably walk it, but the overall racing is good.
Thanks for pointing out the engine info was wrong mate good stuff.
But at Melbourne the top speed on the straights was slower this year to last year. The first year i went Melbourne for the F1 the V10's were running and the sound was incredible i can't imagine these new cars coming close to that magical sound.

couldn't agree more see it's strange, I and everyone else on the planet thought he was just being an arse, but ze German claims black and blue in after race interviews it was a "misunderstanding"

    Sore loser more like it!

Besides I've always been under the impression Vettel's 4 championships came not for his driving ability (as good as it is) but because of those behind the pit wall, mostly one Adrian Newey

Just like last year when he crashed weber off and said he was sorry and did not mean it straight after the race. One week later he changed his comments and said he was not sorry and that's racing.

On the engine sound debate, FWIW i was on the straight at Melbourne and LOVE the sound of the new turbo engines.

For the first time you can hear

    a) trackside commentary
    b) yourself think
    c) tyres squealing
    d) turbo's spinning up
    e) your mate sat next to you
    f) etc.

If you stay still, you go backwards. Onwards F1!

Your one of a minority group. They (the FIA) and other officials, are talking about reinstating the 'sound' of the F1's. The uproar on a worldwide scale, has prompted the change.
Your little saying about 'staying still' seems to me to be null and void. The F1's are sporting some serious bits of tech this season......
If you are at the F1's and you wanna talk to your mates, then go home and watch it on TV.

Well said mate, the sound is a HUGE part of the race and should not be ****ed with at all.

There is only a few 6cyl cars that have a awesome exhaust note and these F1 cars are not in the list.

You mis-understand me. I'm saying F1 must move on, and has.

    Tech has moved on
    Rules have moved on
Drivers and teams have moved on
    The sound has moved on.

    You must also move on.

You are the first person i have heard of (actual person) who has complained about the sound. Have you heard it live? No one at the track was complaining. The turbo spin-up was amazing.

Oh, you and Bernie Ecclestone. Except when Bernice Ecclestone complained about the engine sounds at Melbourne he wasnt even in Australia at the time. And he's 83 so probably cant hear much anyway.

We are now 4 races in and no-one seems to be talking about changing the engine sound any more.

    Move on.
