Thread: OHS GONE MAD

Talking to a guy last week who went to a mine site to fix a dozer,simple twenty minute job,done it before.After the two hour site induction,hopped into the mines cruiser and headed out to do the job.On the way, clipped a roo.Finished job and dropped cruiser off.Safety guy noticed small light in bullbar broken,asked what happened.On explaning about roo,had to fill out forms.Some of the questions were"How could this have been prevented?"His answers were"put reflective vests on roos,put flashing light on roos,have dedicated roo crossings".Answer to question"How could this be prevented in the future?""Hire a professional roo shooter"He was there three days till the roo was found!!

Gladly, it has become a way of life forced upon us that you cannot argue with, if you want to work.


I go to sites as the contactor, the expert in the field employed to do a job nobody else on site can do. Do I have a say in how I do my job, very little. Do I have a say in what type of high vis clothing I want to wear, not a fat chance. I'm a 50 year old who knows his job, yet I am told how I am to behave, to perform, to cloth myself.


The Chinese had a star and little red book, we have high vis and a doctrine, I see no difference. Go onto on large company site and it is like being trained or controlled and more and more people are being brain washed into this stuff. Try and speak out against it, your just told that these are the rules. Bull, these are the controls.
