It's horses for courses, as usual. I think, most modern cars drive like crap and every time I get behind the wheel on one of my trucks I have a smile on my face.

Hey guys was just speaking to a fellow LJ Suzuki owner..he loves them..but has not driven his for many many years..
He said that the fact is today they drive like rubbish compared to Modern utes, Hatch backs ect..[ he dives a 90's Hilux daily, AC, Power steering ect]
So Just woundering what you guys with series Land rovers reckon? You must feel that most people would think that about series Landy's right?![]()

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.
Mm I like driving old 4wds.. as I feel like you are more alive and Mehcnaiclly connected..
To me new cars feel so dull and wooden..like a space ship..![]()
Yep, at least my series when compared to modern 4wds don't do anything well. The charm however isn't about it doing anything well, it's more about it being what it is.

They drive differently, certainly, and the modern vehicles tend to be quieter, more powerful, and generally more comfortable, except for the seating position.
But I prefer driving my 2a or 110 to more modern cars such as those suggested. A better view, not just because of the higher and more upright seating position, but because the windscreen pillars are a lot narrower and so block less vision. The seating position is more comfortable. Probably because I am less used to it, I dislike the small diameter and thick rimmed steering wheels on just about everything you can buy today. And many current cars have very poor visibility to the rear compared to either the 2a or the 110 - and you can't see just where the front of the vehicle is.

Indeed mate well said..you might not know but Lj Suzuki's were designed for the farm..so very low geared and low power..
Not designed for long Distances at all..
Ride rough, slow, gutless, noisy, uncomfortable driving position compared to new stuff..![]()
Hi there.
We have two VW Golfs (one old, one new), and two Land Rovers (both old!).. I love my 90's Golf with 400000kms on the clock, and I love wrestling with the 101 at highway speeds... Yes, the wife's new Golf handles, goes like hell, is quiet and good on fuel.... but it irritates the hell out of me each time I drive it.. Little things like the indicators that have to blink 3 times... the interior mirror that no longer has the manual dip lever but does it automatically.. (No good when wife is shorter than me and we used to use that flip lever to adjust the mirror easily), the auto wipers, lights etc.. I'd still pick the older Golf or the 101 for a trip or adventure! Love em!!
My neighbour has an LJ Suzi that he has at his shack for boat launching... Gutless, cramped but fantastic awesome fun that makes me giggle every time we go out in it!!![]()

'The more the smoke, the more the poke!!'
I've always thought the Series Landies drove pretty well, it's the cruising speed and noise I had the problem with. I still think a 2&1/4 is a fantastic engine. Then I also the 2stroke triple and the Tdi...
Similar to the little DaihatsuI went hunting once where the farm was 3hours away at 100kph. I towed a tandem trailer with one of these little Daihatsu on board behind an XB falcon just so we could get to the property faster. We then used the Daihatsu on the property and after towed it home again. This was a day trip without the tow it would have been a 2 day trip
