So there had been a change of name as Booger suggested, but the first HSC candidates sat the exam in 1967 and only those who were repeating the Leaving Certificate sat the exam in 1966.

that's the year they extended secondary school by 1 year in NSW, vnx

(I did the 5 yr LC long before that)

Yes, so only those repeating the Leaving sat the exam in 1966.

I seem to remember that 1967 was a good year for mature age students to get into uni because there were so few school leavers.
