ok, at last someone who'll stand up for the mighty Defender!!!!
    bah - humbug!!!

I was parked up at Woolies and a young kid may 8-10 years old jumps out of his old mans rodeo and says "hey dad, that's the sort of car I like!" as he points to my old defender. And a mate of mine's 16 year old who himself owns a 99 Patrol jumps into my car and says " Now this is a REAL 4wd!" - not a word of a lie - so they still have appeal to the younguns!!!!

Yes, they look agricultural and that's being kind but hopefully the new version will maintain that tough, go anywhere look but include all the benefits technology has developed since 1948

Still fugly and the styling, not to be confused with its functionality, should have been pensioned off at the end of the series 3.

Yes, have to agree not the most beautiful creature on the planet but even though I do lust after a D4 or Rangie Sport I am still attracted to Defenders but that, I believe, is because I like quirky and different cars. I did once own a Daihatsu Pyzar, ugly, boxy but really functional and I loved it
ooh, do you still have an E type roadster????????

And, I agree with any sentiments that would suggest the 110 cum County cum Defender should have gone through the same styling improvements that the Discos have to remove the ridiculous problems that have been continuously rebuilt over the years - read leaks, noise, etc.

Styling has no place in a utility vehicle. It is only a tool for manufacturers to sell new styling, and adds unnecessarily to the cost of repairs, especially panel repairs. And almost always compromises function.

But I don't claim the Defender "style" is beautiful, although I would not describe it as ugly either.

When you pull up for smoko , at least the 90/110/130 styling allows somewhere to stand the thermos, the sandwich box and your cup of tea while it is cooling off.

The modern style of motor car (even the D1) just does not have any really useful spot externally where things do not fall over or slide off .

Agree 100%. Those silver 'bits' on the wing fronts and grille look daft... Those alloys are two narrow and road tyres make them look even worse. With the original defender nose, no lump in its bonnet, some wider silver alloys with All Terrains and a 70mm lift at the front only it'd look 100% better.... IMO....
