A "Frog" Disco ??????
Talbot / Matra / Simca Rancho.
Front wheel drive only - based on a Simca ....................
I've never really had any time for Frog cars .................... this only confirms what I've always thought.![]()
So it should be designed by Engineer's with no input from the fashion Nazi's, can't disagree with that. Pure engineering will always triumph,
When i went to order my Defender there was a RED F type in the forecourt, i averted my eyes and kept on marching on, time will tell.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

I think goingbush is correct. The D1, while mechanically was simply a down market Rangerover, needed to have very distinctive styling to separate the two marques. The Talbot predated the Discovery by more than ten years, and had ceased production by the time the Discovery design was finalised, but there is little doubt that this is where the overall styling concept came from. Note, however, that the Rancho was front wheel drive, not all wheel drive, and considerably smaller.
This sort of borrowing of appearances has been going on pretty much since the start of motor manufacturing. To give a couple of relevant examples - consider the similarity of the original Landcruiser to the original Jeep, or the original Patrol to the Series Landrover.
Other examples - look at 1934 models from Ford, Chevrolet, Citroen, and many others - all look as if they came from the same drawing office.

Do we have a winner, but if a concept it's disqualified. The yellow thing.
