    Making a sand flag

I refuse to pay $ 130 plus for a sand flag. Anyone have any ideas on how to make one for the front of my Disco

I used my UHF antenna, it was one of the thick white ones. Just slipped a home made flag over the top.

Fibreglass Post 1500 x 10mm pack of 50 - Fibreglass fencing system - Gallagher Permanent Electric Fencing Two of these with a metal sleeve to join them together (easy storage) inserted into a tube on your bull bar or whatever. Buy some orange plastic sheeting (used as membrane under concrete) and make your own flag... shouldn't cost you more than $20... or try the usual big box hardware outlets for fibreglass pole lengths...

Piece of 20mm conduit with home made flag taped to one end,the other taped to the bull bar.
Flag made from old worn out fluro vest.

I bought a squid pole, modified the base to accept a threaded bolt and used a flouro triangle flag to make mine.

    It's collapsible and stores nicely.

Not sure of durability as I have rarely used it.

Cheap fishing rod works well for the pole, and can be got in a 2 or 3 piece version to make it easier to store.
Downside is that SWMBO cringes with embarrassment when I fit it as I didn't bother taking the eyelets off

I made one using an old fibreglass tent pole, a few hose clamps (to secure the pole to the bull bar bar) and an old hi-vis vest cut appropriately.
