You can take the **** out of Football, Rugby or any sport. None of them are 'serious', just a bit of fun. Some of them you get in to for a while, others you get bored of.

In this case the bite was met with a sharp elbow to the face, cards and penalties change games so both players went down to disguise their crimes.

Why must this topic trigger an automatic 'soccer is for crying girls' response? Manipulating the game outside of the rules is a part of the game - everyone tries to get away with it now and then especially when players get desperate, sometimes even the Ref! It provides another level of interest and drama.

Ps. there is no such thing as soccer.

To answer your question; because it so often is. Name another code in which that occurs. Anywhere.

And, I'm afraid there is. Look up Association Football.

Perhaps its the unique qualities of the game that make it the most popular sport in the world by far.

If football is a game for crying girls then Rugby is a game for men that like to touch each other.

Its just a game, let's not get all macho about it.

You mean soccer. And quantity and quality are two very different things.

Excuse me....who said there is anything unmanly about sticking your face next to another man's butt cheeks? And players have been banned for sticking their fingers up opposition players arses. A game does need standards, and those standards are enforced without the girly play acting.

I have a theory that if you grow up speaking on of the "languages of love" (Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese) you are automatically wired up for dramatics.

Of course there are exceptions in both directions.

Bloody Hell! I always thought the term used to describe these languages was "Romanic" not "Romantic"! Silly me

    Football.

On an Australian forum, I'm trying to slap some sense into a brick wall

So go on then, get on youtube and watch your best soccer girly dives and be happy.

Anyone thinking they might watch the world cup final - even for some girly diving mockery?
