2003 was meant the last defender. finished. kaput. no more.
then they decided to extend the run another seven years.
thats when the 90 made an appearance.

therefore by 2010 there should be no more defender

i guess they will go up in price after that due to rarity

Defenderzook -- I think LR are working on a new Defender as we speak, due out in either 2006/07. Meant to be based around the new LR3 platform.

LR cannot afford to kill off the Defender/Wolf/Perentie or whatever you want to call it, simply because of the military market and its overall importance to the bigger LR.

But but but

Apparently a Pinzgauer is the likely replacement for the British Army Wolf.

A sad day when Britain chooses to ditch its own product.

I LOVE Defenders and would be VERY VERY sad to see them go.

At the moment they are the only truly capable amd almost affordable 4wd's on the market.

Unfortunately LR seem to have gone for the 'DNA' theme (you have seen the ads) rather than promoting the history, solidity and reliability (yes) of the true 'truck' Land Rovers and how that has carried down into the range.

Instead they have this idea that people who buy Freelanders think they are buying a bargain Rangie just because the headlights are the same

What was my point again ? Oh yeah. I don;t want to see Defenders go.
Wen it's time to upgrade from my current one I'll be getting a 2nd hand Defender TD5. Oh look - another new vehicle sale LR will have missed out on. They really need to learn to cater for their customers needs and wants - rather than telling us what we should have :!:

Right now - who wants this soapbox ?

It's a Lux one. Made of wood. Very strong. Good for extended rants

No it aint. Just try snatching in reverse and watch and hear those diff cogs turn into pulleys..... ops: Even Aussie 4WD monthly made a mention of that one and I witnessed it myself a few years back when some blokes were playing illegally in our local bush.... 8O I was observing from a higher vantage point because I was out on my pushy that day.

No, I meant Matthew. I know Owen, and Murray and the mechanic Derek (and his brother at the Newcastle LR dealer) and Shirley and.....

I bought my P38A from them.

Matt is their Sydney sales rep.
