SubscriberYes, the most remote part of the British Empire. We stopped there to deliver something, on Brisbane, many years ago, the only way to land is by small boat. Christian could not have found a more remote spot. My feeling is, it could be used as a touchstone, if the reefs around Pitcairn start having trouble, not much hope for the rest of the World. Hard to see that happen, though. Bob

That is correct--I have particularly noted and seen several documentaries on Pitcairn as the whole Island Population was once Seventh-day Adventist.

The Bounty Mutineers sailed to Tahiti after the Mutiny on the Bounty and took wives, then decided they might get caught, so sailed with all their wives to Pitcairn took everything off that ship then burnt the ship, in order that the British did not find and hang them.
One of the Tahitian women died leaving more men than women on Pitcairn Island. So one of the men killed another so he could take his wife, and so on till only one man was left--John Quincy Adams I think it was-- would have to check to be certain. The women in turn, who had a lot of Children by now, decided to kill the remaining man, but he talked them out of it.
Seeing they were in such a state John Quincy Adams, the Last Survivor of the Mutiny got hold of the Ship's Bible [the only book they had], and stated teaching the women and children what the Bible taught.
Years Later a British Man of War [ship] found Pitcairn [the maps had put the Island in the wrong place, hence it was lost for years] and the Man of War sent a party to trade with the savages of that Island. To their surprise they found them in Church on that Saturday speaking English.
Seventh-day Adventists hearing that story sent a Mission Ship, but found the Islanders already taught most Seventh-day Adventist Doctrines as they had read the Bible the same way as Seventh-day Adventists, and the Islanders as a whole joined the Adventist Church.
John Quincy Adams was pardoned for his role in the Mutiny after the story came out.
