I hope he never comes out. Old or not he deserves to die in jail. Personally I feel sick that a bloke I (and my kids and grand kids) enjoyed watching for so many years is a kiddy fiddler.
Sorry too for his loyal family who have to live with this, especially his ailing wife.
Just let it be, he's got what he deserves although if many had their way it would be much worse, it's sickening enough without all this constant screaming about it.

With all this aggro about Rolf Harris and his 6 years or so sentence ... a mother beat her 8 year old daughter to death up in Cairns. That took her about 2 years to do, and you should see the coroner's report on the little girls injuries. It is properly sickening. That mother got 7 years.

Now tell me who got the lenient treatment. When torturing a little girl to death gets you just 3 months more than you get for being a dirty old man.

Yep, there's going to be an appeal.
    Stay tuned for round two.

I wonder what knee jerk reactions we'll get if he is acquitted?

My interest is in the number of malicious accusations of rape, etc that get levelled at innocent (of the specific accusation) because someone has an agenda, wether it be revenge, seeking fame/compensation, etc

The reason I asked is because I'd heard on the news that one or more of the accusations against rolf had been proven to be untrue, that he'd been elsewhere, etc at the time the incident supposedly happened...

To give an example, a good friend of mine was accused of raping a woman a couple of years ago, was questioned by the police and things were looking pretty bad for him untill CCTV footage at a pub was found that proved he was nowhere near where she said it all happened....

He had to deal with the stress and stigma of what happened, she didnt even get a warning from the police..... IMO she shouldve ended straight in jail for the maximum sentence as if he'd been found guilty, and she shouldve been listed on the sex offenders register too...

FWIW, I'm not defending Rolf, just curious as to if there were any false accusations...

I hear you. See my earlier post, #62 in this thread.

I worked with a fellow who used to pick up at the night clubs. Sometimes he got lucky, sometimes he didn't.
One night, he picked up. Was invited back to her place, did the deed, then went home.
He was awoken in the morning by the police pounding on the door. He was charged with rape. Don't know what happened to him but I heard she was a single mum and was paid $10,000 as a "victim of crime".
With respect to the accusations leveled at Rolf, the defence proved some of the accusations to be false but the jury didn't buy it.

I would guess there were a number of "victims" who weren't part of this court case as their evidence could not withstand scrutiny.

There always seem to be more "victims" once compensation is mentioned.

    Well, she had me convinced.
Good job I've not been on any jury.

And sadly, nothing will ever be done about the bull**** claims...

Had the "victims" spoken up earlier, they may have exacted a more substantial revenge.
I've always thought sentencing should work the opposite way. A perpetrator should get more time in jail the longer they went undetected. That way the longer someone thinks they have gotten away with something the harsher the penalty. A sort of "'fess up and face the music" incentive.

I have seen Maury and I love it when the bloke is proven to not be the father. Some women have been on multiple times trying to prove different blokes fathered their child.
