A tennis star has arrived, and he's an Aussie

Watched the game, hard to believe he's only 19. Bob

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Knowing nothing about this young man, I took to the net. A great result for cosmopolitan Australia. Now all we need is a few of our recent arrivals to stand out for the right reasons, and perhaps we may view them in a different light. Well done , Mr & Mrs Kyrgios. Bob

Nicholas Hilmy Kyrgios was born in Canberra , Australia . He is the son of a Greeks father, Giorgos, and a Malaysia mother, Norlaila. He is the third of three children; his brother, Christos, is a lawyer, and his sister, Halimah, is an actress. Kyrgios attended Radford College until Year 8 and completed his Year 12 certificate in 2012 at Daramalan College - in Canberra.
Kyrgios was a promising basketball player who had represented Australian Capital Territory and Australia in his early teens before making the decision to focus solely on tennis when he was 14 years old. Two years later he gained a full scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport where he was able to further develop his tennis. Kyrgios is an avid fan of the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association .[

At last, an up and coming Aussie Tennis "Star" who is not a douche.

Well done and good luck with the rest of the tournament.

Yes, a terrific match! Some great tennis from both players, just as if it had been Nadal vs. Djokovic/Murray/Federer.

What impressed me was Nick's coolness under pressure, & the way he played the important points.

Hopefully headed for a great future.

    Cheers,

    Lionel

I watched the first set last night and what a game. It was a shame that it was on so late as I would have liked to watch it all.

I am intrigued though. I heard channel seven advertising tonight's matches and Kyrgios is playing again tonight. I always thought that players got one day off between matches.

Anyone know when tonight's opponent last played?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Watching the replay now. Fabulous! Have seen all his matches at Wimbledon. It was clear from his performanc at the Aussie Open that he had a big future.

Sent from my D1 using overweight hamsters.

That's true but there were some games delayed earlier due to rain so they need to catch up, get back on schedule to ensure the finals can still be played at the week end.

I think Raonic (Kyrgios opponent tonight) played last night too. So both players are in the same boat.
