Thread: More than just the car

I think you'll find that Nissan & Toyota owners are just as mad as you guys about there 4Bs [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img] in fact it's the only thing that realy annoys me about the other forum i frequent there idea that patrol and cruiser are the only real 4x4s and all the rest are crap aspecialy patrol owners tough as nails do this do that blah blah blah blah :roll: [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img] , but yeah i would like to know myself. 8O

I dont really know RPM it just seems to happen, I know I have loved landies since I was in nappies, my dad used to own an old series III troopy, maybe its genetic, I hope to pass it on to my son when he finally arrives, in oh about 6 weeks now. But you are right, there doesnt seem to be the same hype about other brands, I also find that Landy owners are much nicer people, go to a Land Rover show and any owner will tell you all you need to know, its just not the same with other vehicle owners. All i know is that the thought of driving any other 4wd sicken me to the bone, it just wouldnt be right. Matt

I don't understand it either, it just happens. When we were shopping around for our, the missus used to ask "what about thet one?" Before she'd finish her sentence I'd be saying "there is no way we're getting a toyota!"
In the end she understood that we were looking for a landrover, not a four wheel drive.

Yeah when i was looking for my disco, I was telling some friends and they said oh I know where a really good patrol is for sale, when i say didnt you hear me say I am after a Landrover, they look at me real blank, as if to say why the hell would you want to do that. I guess some people will just never get bitten by the Land Rover bug, maybe they are imune, I knwo im not. Matt

an icon
just like holden evolved fron its first models and is still poular
so to is landrover...but it still looks like its original models

Interesting points.

I reckon the Landrover Effect is a combination of:

- the vehicle's having "character"; little idiosyncrasies
- history of the marque
- the "minority" status
- the huge community around the marque
- ability to modify, customise, personalise

and if you'll excuse the political correctness; it's like having a gorgeous girlfriend who doesn't always do what you want, gives you highs and lows, as opposed to a solid, reliable but boring girlfriend who provides no excitement.
